volunteer terms & conditions
Attitude
A friendly positive attitude acting with courtesy, patience & respect at all times would be greatly appreciated.
Age
You must be over 18 years to be considered for any volunteer position at the festival.
Volunteer Contract
Volunteer contracts are applicable both pre festival, during the festival & post festival. If you are contracted to working pre or post festival roster times and requirements will be provided accordingly. If you are contracted to work during the festival you must be available to complete a 10 hour shift during the festival. You will be notified of the shift you will be required to complete. You will be required to attend the Pre-festival Volunteer meeting held on Thursday 8th November. You will be informed of the location and time of the meeting. This is a compulsory meeting for all volunteers, failure to attend will result in loss of shifts.
Consumption of alcohol or drug use pre or during your shift will not be tolerated under any circumstance. Removal of armband and from site will be immediate.
Festival Entry
As a volunteer you will receive a volunteer armband. These armbands are not transferable & if lost or broken will not be replaced.
Dress Code
Enclosed shoes must be worn at all times on site, failure to wear appropriate shoes is strictly enforced for your own safety. Sandals & thongs are not appropriate footwear. Appropriate clothing for all weather conditions is your responsibility and should include both wet weather gear as well as sun block hats etc. Your free volunteer t-shirt is an appropriate top for your shift and allows easy identification.
OHS
We take pride in observing high standards of Occupational Health and Safety throughout the festival. We endeavour to provide you with the safest working conditions possible. As a member of the volunteer team we ask you to comply with all safety requirements associated with your volunteer position and support the OHS procedures. Please follow your supervisor or volunteer co-ordinators direction at all times.
Dismissal
No volunteer will be dismissed until the volunteer has the opportunity to discuss the reasons for dismissal with the Volunteer Co-ordinator on duty and show how you are a valuable member of the volunteer team. The final decision will be made after consultation between at least 2 of the co-ordinators/committee members. Possible grounds for dismissal may include but are not limited to the following:
• Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs before or during your shift.
• Theft.
• Insubordination, abuse or mistreatment of festival goers, staff, other volunteers or management.
• Failure to abide by festival policies & procedures.
• Failure to complete your 10 hour shift as directed by your Volunteer Co-ordinators.
• Disappearing during allocated tasks.
