the blues at bridgetown is WAs original blues festival - featuring australian and international blues artists

xave brown

Based in Fremantle and Denmark, singer/songwriter Xave Brown is an intimate solo artist with an extensive repertoire of his own material. His lyrically driven acoustic performances are refreshingly honest and original. Bluesy/folk/classical guitar picking and a dynamic vocal style combine into songs that often flow in satisfyingly unexpected directions.

A local of south western Australia Xave has been playing music and writing songs from an early age. First learning the piano then moving to bass he has played in several bands including Brazen Sloth (bass and vocals), who were runner-up in the Albany-Bunbury Triple J unearthed competition, playing live to air several times and appearing on ABC-TV's music show Recovery .

As a solo performer Xave has played on Triple J and supported Paul Kelly, The John Butler Trio, Carus Thompson, Nathan Gaunt and Ruby's Grace on their WA tour. He has played around the country at various festivals including the Broome Shinju Festival,Wami regional tour 05, harbour sound festival 05 and most recently Xave played at the Vintage Blues Festival alongside Xavier Rudd and Eugene Hideaway Bridges.

Xave also won the regional Semi final of the Next Big Thing competition '05 and The WAM regional Song of the Year '06.
