Nick Charles

Nick Charles, known internationally as “Australia’s virtuoso of acoustic blues and roots guitar music” is making his first solo visit to Bridgetown this November.

With over 25 years touring the world playing festivals and concerts and nearly a dozen critically acclaimed albums, this is a must for lovers of great blues and roots guitar music.
Primarily the great acoustic blues and ragtime guitar masters of the 20’s and 30’s were Nick’s initial influences. Later and significantly, the brilliant country blues picking of Merle Travis and Doc Watson became ingrained in his style as well as numerous eclectic elements ranging from the jazz of Duke Ellington, the swing of Django and the more modern sounds of Leo Kottke and Chet Atkins.

Nick has toured with artists of the calibre and diversity of BB King, Taj Mahal, John Hammond, Guy Clarke, Robyn Ford,Chris Smither, John Mc Cutcheon, Dan Crary and Beppe Gambetta and on and on…..take this opportunity to hear a rare musical talent, dazzling string work and bluesy, rootsy melody.
