When it comes to soulful tunes that will make any person hum and get moving Matt Gresham has it down to a T.
Matt Gresham first became interested in the music scene at the age of 13 where he had seen a close friend play acoustic styled music.
Now 6 years later Matt is becoming know around the Perth music scene as the next big thing
Matt has many influences which have impacted on his sound and personality with music. Some of Matt's musical influences have come from Ben Harper and Eric Bibb. Matt has now created his own vibe with his instruments which include guitar, didgeridoo, tambourine, stomp box and vocals. Matt has supported such names as Blue Shaddy, Wolfmail and blues award winners The Brian Fraiser Trio. Matt received a WAM (Western Australia Music) song or the year for “Happy Birthday Dave “in 2007. You could describe Matt’s music as raw real Australian, blues, reggae and a jazzy mellow.
With A Stage presence unlike any other and a youthful energy and charm that draws you in , shakes you up and leaves you feeling a new joy for life.
Matt has a wide variety of songs which are soulful, mellow, fun, energetic and playful. The music he plays will get anyone up dancing or singing along. His sound has been created with such influences as Bob Marley, Paul Simon and James Taylor. His youthful energy is infectious with Matt’s show being described as not playing to the audience but playing with them.
Matt has been joined by Andrew Pring aka blue drew has been playing harmonica with Matt since Jan 2006 adding extra dynamic to the show with catchy melodies and driving rhythms.
Drew has played harmonica with many artists including Toby, Blue Shaddy James Thompson (Tompo), Ash Grunwald, and Dave Mann.
Matt has been included for the second year as part of the West Coast Blues Clubs showcase at the Australian Blues Music Festival Goulburn NSW. The Trio have played Bridgetown Blues Festival 2005, 2006 with inclusion of 2008
Also appearing @ Blues Nannup, Fairbridge Festival, Kwinana Blues & Roots concert, Arts center London’s regal room in England, Settlers tavern Margaret River and has toured the West the Coast of West Australia the past two years.
