martin lee cropper
Singer/guitarist/songwriter Martin Lee Cropper was inspired by the work of Mississippi John Hurt, Mance Lipscombe, Tampa Red and Leo Kottke. Using these influences as a starting-point Cropper honed his skills and conquered the intricate “Piedmont” finger-picking style of guitar-playing, and also discovered a love and affinity for slide. Playing 6-string finger-style acoustic guitar, (custom model 5 built by luthier Scott Wise of Margaret River), and slide on a Donmo baritone tricone and Nashville triolian, Cropper’s original material covers a wide variety of tempos and styles, from dark and brooding instrumentals to quirky toe-tapping country blues.
Spicing his performance with an amusing collection of anecdotes from his own life and a wealth of information about the early blues artists and their songs, Cropper is an all-round entertainer. This is music with wide appeal - played with style and delivered with passion
