the flood - new south wales
For over a decade The Flood has remained devoted to honestly composed and beautifully rendered songs in the best traditions of organic roots music.
Kevin Bennett, James Gillard, Tim Wedde and Scott Hills bring impressive credentials to the current lineup through individual contributions to Australian music history with:
Moving Pictures, Chasing The Train, Mondo Rock, Goanna and many others.
Driven by Kevin Bennett's superb lyrics and exquisite vocals, The Flood's undercurrent of roots/blues/alt country rhythms and glorious harmonies engender solid dedication from both fans and fellow musicians.
This was evidenced on the Neville Brothers' tour (special guests) and during The Flood’s residency at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Packed houses every night at the Tamworth Hotel included the A-list of artists in guest spots with everyone’s favourite band.
Nashville singer/songwriter & Dead Reckoners artist Kevin Welch is also a devotee.
The CD Live Down Here on Earth and DVD Plenty of Time were both recorded with Kevin during tours in Australia. Apart from making great music together, the album and DVD show the mutual respect within this perfect partnership and has led to international recognition for The Flood.
Back home, mainstream and country music television programs continue to broadcast clips of Paul Kelly’s Blues, Australian For Broken Heart, You Might Be There and DVD Plenty of Time.
Tracks from The Flood’s self titled album and EP Australian For Broken Heart have received global radio airplay, reached Top 10 status on national music charts and earned them multiple Mo and Golden Guitar finalist nominations.
The latest studio sessions have produced the next 'killer' Flood album "The Late Late Show" featuring Kevin Bennett’s material. The first single, ‘Hello Blue Sky’, has just received the Golden Guitar for "Vocal Group or Duo of the Year" at the 2006 Australian Country Music Awards.
Recently, The Flood’s 2nd concert at The Basement and performance at the launch of Dig Country were recorded by ABC for broadcast on Live at the Basement (TV) and Live on Stage (Radio).
Outside of The Flood, Kevin Bennett has a string of collaborative songwriting credits and James Gillard, Tim Wedde and Scott Hills perform individually with almost every rock and country outfit on stage, screen and in the studio.
