sverre fjereide and richard wollett - okpo blues
Norwegian born acoustic blues guitarist/vocalist Sverre Fjereide, has worked worldwide as a Mechanical Engineer for the last 30 years. In every country that Sverre has lived he has been accompanied by his old and battered Martin D35S guitar. Sverres old Martin has been mistreated by airport baggage handlers, lost in transit on more than one occasion, and played at many late night blues jams in numerous countries. Much like its owner the D35S continues to sound better with age.
Richard Woollett (National Steel guitar and Dobro) began playing slide guitar while working on remote mining camps in Borneo and Papua New Guinea.
In 1993 Richard co-founded the popular acoustic country blues combo the Bayou Brothers who made their debut performance at the first Bridgetown Blues Festival.
In 2005 while residing in the industrial city of Okpo on Geoje Island (pronounced “Kojay”) South Korea, Richard heard about expatriate blues legend Sverre Fjereide.
